What hail does to a Louisville roof
Hail does not tear a Louisville roof open. It leaves marks the size of a coin, and those marks start leaking a season later, when nobody remembers the storm.
What a hail hit looks like
A soft dark spot on the shingle, about the size of a coin, where the gravel coating was knocked loose. Press it and it feels like a bruise on an apple. On metal vents and flashing you see dents. On gutters you see dimples.
Why it leaks later
The bruise exposes the mat under the coating. Sun and rain work on that bare spot until it cracks. That can take a season or two. By then the storm is forgotten and the leak looks like age.
Why timing matters
Most home policies want storm damage reported within a set window. A photo report with the date on it, taken soon after the storm, is what makes a claim simple. A leak found two years later is a harder story to tell.
What we do after a storm
We walk the whole roof and photograph every hit, every lifted tab, every dented vent. The report is written so an adjuster can follow it. We repair what the storm broke. If the hail truly ended the roof, we say so with the photos, and you take that report wherever you like.
